On October 28, Sami Fleischner, Client Solutions Associate Director, and Jay Henderson, Client Solutions Director, hosted a live walkthrough of Verasight Self-Serve and answered questions from the researchers who joined. What makes Verasight Self-Serve different
Multi-mode recruitment. Verasight panelists are recruited through address-based sampling, person-to-person text messaging, and dynamic online targeting. Every panelist joins with a US mobile number registered with a major carrier.
Voter validation and voter file appends. Registered voter samples are verified with official voter file records, and voter file data can be appended to your responses for an extra fee.
Survey weights. Nationally representative and registered voter samples of 250 or more are weighted to population benchmarks at no extra charge, on nine variables: gender, age, education, race and ethnicity, income, Census region, metropolitan status, party identification, and 2024 vote.
We also replicated a Pew Research Center benchmarking study, and Verasight outperformed all of the nonprobability samples Pew analyzed.
Four sample types
- Nationally representative: a general population sample of US adults.
- Registered voters: panelists matched to the voter file, with optional voter file appends.
- Targeted demographics: select gender, age, race and ethnicity, partisanship, or self-reported voter registration.
- Convenience samples: for pretests, pilots, and experiments that don't need a representative sample.
Each sample can include 100 to 2,000 respondents, and every data file includes Verasight's standard demographic profile variables, so you don't need to ask those questions in your survey.
How a study works
- Build your survey. Verasight Self-Serve works with Qualtrics or any survey platform that can record values passed in the survey link and redirect respondents at the end. If your questionnaire is in Word, Doc2Survey converts it to a Qualtrics file for free; review the converted survey before you launch. Your survey can't use quotas or screen-outs, and it can end early only for respondents who decline consent or fail an attention check.
- Set up the study. Choose a sample type and size, then enter how many multiple choice, matrix, and open-ended questions your survey has. The price updates as you go, and nothing is charged while you explore.
- Connect your survey. Add your survey link with the vsid and surveyid parameters, then add the redirect links for completes, declined consent, and failed attention checks. You test each redirect before you can move on, so problems are caught before fielding. The Self-Serve Survey Integration Guide walks through each setting.
- Pay and launch. Payment comes last, after the survey is configured and tested. After you pay, you can launch when you're ready.
- Get your data. Your data file includes each respondent's vsid, the standard profile variables, and a weight column on weighted surveys. You join it to your responses on vsid. Delivery formats include SPSS (.sav).
Questions from the live Q&A
Can I add demographic questions that aren't in the standard set?
Yes. Add them to your own questionnaire.
Is there a cost to create an account?
No. Creating an account and using Doc2Survey are free. You pay per survey, at the final step.
Can I pay with a purchase order or invoice?
Yes. The team can provide a quote, work with a purchase order, or invoice you. Email research@verasight.io to arrange it.
How long does it take to get my data?
Fielding usually takes 48 to 72 hours, depending on the study. After fielding closes, the team prepares the weights and profile variables and emails you when your data is ready.
How do you make sure respondents are real people?
Every panelist verifies a US mobile number registered with a major carrier. Verasight also tracks response patterns across every survey a panelist takes, reviews and removes panelists who answer inconsistently, and limits how many surveys each panelist can take.
Does Verasight review my questionnaire?
Questionnaires aren't reviewed automatically. If your study covers a sensitive topic, contact the team before you launch.
How is region measured?
Region is the four-category Census region. If your IRB allows it, you can ask for more specific location in your own survey.
Can I cite Verasight's methods in a manuscript?
Yes. The team can provide a methodology statement for your study, and IRB materials on request. See Verasight's methodology.
What if I need more than the standard deliverables?
Cross-tabs, reporting, and survey programming are available through Verasight's custom research.
