Verasight recruits panelists through three channels and confirms each panelist's mobile phone number by text message. Our quality checks continue during and after surveys.

#Recruitment channels

Verasight panelists are recruited through random address-based sampling, random person-to-person text messaging, and dynamic online targeting.

#Phone number verification

We confirm each panelist's mobile phone number by text message. The number must be registered with a major US carrier. We do not accept voice over internet protocol or internet-only numbers. Where applicable, we also match panelists against voter file records.

#Survey invitations

We invite panelists to self-serve surveys by email. The panelists we invite match the sample type you chose. For example, Validated Voters invitations go to panelists matched to the L2 voter file, and Targeted Demographics invitations go to the group you selected.

If your survey has not reached its sample size after 48 hours, we invite more panelists automatically.

Taking part in a survey, and staying in the panel, is optional.

#Checks during and after surveys

Across Verasight, during and after surveys, we use these checks:

  • reCAPTCHA v3
  • Response-time monitoring
  • Straight-lining detection
  • Device and network checks
  • Limits on how often panelists take surveys

Panelists can take only two to three surveys a week on average, which discourages professional survey takers. We remove panelists who show low-quality response behavior over time, such as straight-lining or speeding.

We also track how panelists report their demographics over time, and we aim to refresh panelists' demographic profiles at least twice a year. Some changes do not make sense, for example age jumping decades in a month. When that happens, we pull the panelist for review and may ask for additional verification.

For self-serve studies, we also route every respondent through our own attention check before they reach your survey. Our checks cover panelists' activity across Verasight and that attention check. They do not review the answers to your questions. You build and report any checks on those answers, such as consistency items or a review of open-ended answers.

#Targeted identity verification

We ask fewer than 1% of respondents for targeted identity verification, after a quality flag.

#Panelist rewards

Panelists earn reward points for the surveys they take. They can exchange the points by Venmo, PayPal, gift card, prepaid Visa card, or charitable donation. We do not route panelists from one survey to another.
